Challenge
Divine is the leading UK Fairtrade chocolate company that buys its cocoa from the Kuapa Kokoo farmers cooperative in Ghana.
Divine asked us to work with its new brand identity to design a new website, one which would both communicate the new brand but also tell the story behind the chocolate and serve as an information-based site from which Divine could communicate with its audience and increase awareness.
Insight
Divine has a unique and compelling story behind its chocolate. It tells how cocoa farmers in Ghana not only receive a fair price for their cocoa, but also co-own the Divine company, and so have influence in the way it is run, and share its profits. This heritage is enough alone to differentiate the product from its competitors but Divine also has the added benefit of tasting better than most other chocolate!
Solution
The existing Divine website was very content rich but lacked a clear navigation or style and so much of the important content was wasted as the visitor could not simply navigate around it.
As content management was one of the main needs of the client, we designed a site that achieved two goals - firstly it looked good with space for interactive imagery and moving content, and secondly it was easy for the clients to use, update and refresh with news, events and competitions.
A second challenge was that Divine wanted the new identity and packaging online and being sold by Valentine’s Day so we developed a microsite to achieve this whilst the main site was being constructed.
Results
Divine was delighted with the design and functionality of the site. It has helped attract and engage with a new audience and created a platform from which to build new online marketing initiatives.
